At Tiina Jori Ko Ba, our mission is to give children and youth in Northern Ghana access to the education they deserve. We aim for this regardless of their abilities. J.O.S Children’s School is our maiden project. It seeks to provide the best possible education to children with disabilities in the Kassena-Nankana Municipality. The World Health Organization’s Global Report on Health Equity for Persons with Disabilities highlights a critical issue. Persons with disabilities face systemic barriers to health. They also face challenges to social inclusion. This includes the alarming fact that in many parts of the world, children with disabilities are denied access to education. This situation is seen in Northern Ghana, where 71% of children with disabilities are excluded from school.
The reality for children like Nora, who had Down syndrome, is heartbreaking. Nora, like many other children, was once told she didn’t belong in school. Every day, she watched from the outside, separated from her peers. But at Tiina Jori Ko Ba, we’re changing that narrative. We are building Northern Ghana’s first scalable, inclusive education model—where children with diverse abilities are welcomed and empowered to thrive.
Our innovative approach combines technology, teacher training, and social enterprise to create an educational environment that supports all learners. We hope to utilize adaptive learning technology in the future alongside our specialized teacher training. Our goal is to ensure that every child, regardless of their disability, has the tools to succeed.
We hope to propel this vision forward. This will allow us to expand our impact. It will also let us bring our inclusive education model to more children across Northern Ghana. By supporting us, you help create classrooms where children with disabilities no longer have to watch from the outside. Every child deserves a seat at the table—let’s make that a reality together.
